The Journey So Far...

Venturing from seasonings to kitchenware was a bold new step for us at PODI life. Our mission: create something that not only simplifies the process of making the crispiest dosas but also transforms the experience into one of joy and ease.

From prototype to perfect — third-generation brass makers at work in Moradabad

Our commitment to excellence led us to Moradabad—the renowned brass capital of India—to collaborate with third-generation artisanal brass makers. Crafting the perfect brass utensils proved to be an art steeped in challenges. Achieving the right alloy composition was crucial to avoid impurities that affect durability and appearance.

Over a span of 2 years, we’d gone through 10 prototypes, rigorous testing across India and US. We refined every piece until we were sure you’d fall in love at first sight and with every use. When it was finally ready, we didn’t put out an ad, or a promo, just a simple Instagram story, because we were so damn proud of the product....

Within minutes we had this message — and then dozens more. 100+ DMs asking us the same thing. A sign from the universe.

At the end of the day we had 100+ DMs asking us where they can get their hands on this trio, much before we planned to launch. The community’s confidence, support and excitement led us to our first drop. We launched the Kanakam Dosa Trio in July 2024! This set of hand-made brass utensils and a cast iron pan is designed to be cherished and passed down through generations.

Bon Appetit test kitchen behind the scenes — the dosa masterclass

Making dosas is an artform in itself, from perfecting the batter consistency to pan techniques, we had a lot more we wanted to share with the community. We developed our live dosa masterclass where you learn how to make dosas from scratch for your very own dosa party!

We paired each trio with a batter mix and PODIs to help you learn the tricks to a crispy dosa and enjoy your new heirloom kitchenware. We had the pleasure of taking the masterclass to the Bon Appetit Test Kitchen in 2025!
